Old Electronic devices should not be thrown in the trash. Electronics are full of hazardous metals and other materials that are harmful to the environment if placed in a landfill, but what can be done with the plethora of devices that we are constantly updating and replacing? They can be recycled!
Magnolia Data Solutions will be at the Visitors Center and Museum in Rolling Fork on Wednesday, June 14 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to collect items. Anything electric is acceptable except for large white good like washers, dryers and refrigerators. Microwave ovens, printers, scanners, gaming devices, telephones, stereo systems, electric chargers and cord of all types, televisions, computers etc…. all of this is acceptable. The only items that you will be charged for bringing are computer monitors and televisions. There will be a $5.00 charge for each of those because the very metals that make them harmful to the environment make them more costly to recycle. Any computer data will be safely destroyed, through crushing and burning of materials, so there should not be concerns that information will be obtained from them.
With our world becoming more reliant on computers and with the ever-changing technology there is more and more electronic waste being disposed of on a daily basis; be responsible and recycle your electronics with LDP and Magnolia Data on June 14.
Please call the LDP office for more information, 662-873-6261.
